“The Red Pony” is a children’s book by Western Writer Bill Shuey. It tells the story of a young girl, Betty, and her dog, Tag, who set out on a journey to rescue her pony when it is stolen from her family’s farm. This project was an opportunity to use illustration as a vessel to tell the author’s story and bring its essential message to life. Through the use of vibrant, hand-drawn illustration, we experimented with a childhood sense of wonder, and created something children would be drawn to, as well as remain interested the whole way through.
